Classes/Activities Mosaic

Class is designed as an introductory Class to Mosaics and can be done by anyone.

Class length is One and a Half Days  (First Day - 5hrs, Second Day – 3 hrs)

First Day is a 5 hour session in which participants:

·      Select the design of their individual project and develop a template for the project

·      Transfer/trace their design onto the terra cotta tile

·      Select the colors/glass texture to fulfill their vision on the tile

·      Cut out the pieces of glass and shape them for the project

·      Carefully glue the glass pieces into place onto the terra cotta tile

·      Prepare the final product for grouting on Day 2, a 3 hour session in which the participants:

·      Select color of grout and mix grout and water for application to the tile

·      Apply the grout to the tile and glass finish initial creation of the project

·      Allow grout to dry

·      Clean excess grout and remove with wet cloth and polish exposed glass

·      Clean tile edges and finish project ready for framing

Supplies:  All supplies and tools required for project are provided by the Instructor and retained under Instructor control for safety and security.

At the completion of the class – All participants will finish with their completed project in hand fully finished and in a ready for framing status (Optional hand-made wrought iron frames are additional cost of $15)
